Acclaimed soprano Shelén Hughes Camacho and award-winning baritone Joseph Parrish join forces for an afternoon of exceptional vocal artistry. Featuring two of today’s most exciting young singers, this program promises an unforgettable musical experience.
Joseph Parrish was a recipient of the 2024 Sullivan Grant, a member of the Salzburger Festspiele Young Singers Project for the 2024 festival season, and a third prize winner in the Opera Index Voice Competition 2024. With his rich, warm voice and impeccable technique, bass-baritone Joseph Parrish is an impressive and versatile talent, wowing the audience at the prestigious Susan Wadsworth Young Concert Artists International Auditions in 2022 (which he won).
Bolivian soprano Shelén Hughes Camacho, a graduate of The Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music, has quickly emerged as a compelling voice on both the operatic and concert stages. Ms. Hughes Camacho is a winner of the 2025 George and Nora Foundation Competition, the 2024 Opera Index Competition, First Prize at the 2024 Gerda Lissner Zarzuela Competition, and Third Prize at the 2025 Gerda Lissner Opera Competition. She has been a finalist in the Renata Tebaldi and Ottavio Ziino International Competitions, and a semi-finalist in the Geneva Voice Competition and the Alfredo Kraus Competition. Additional distinctions include the 2024 Dorothy Lincoln Smith Vocal Competition (D.C. Chapter) and the 2023 Sankofa Awardfrom the SAS Competition.
